Junior and Senior Buyers – Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver
Techne PMC is seeking Junior and Senior Buyers to join our Procurement and Contracts team in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. These positions will support procurement activities for major capital projects across the mining, metals, energy, infrastructure, utilities, and industrial sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Support the procurement of equipment, materials, and services required for project execution.
- Prepare and issue requests for quotation, requests for proposal, bid packages, and purchase orders.
- Coordinate with engineering, project controls, construction, contracts, suppliers, and client teams.
- Review technical and commercial proposals for completeness, compliance, pricing, and delivery requirements.
- Prepare bid tabulations, commercial evaluations, recommendations for award, and procurement reports.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and payment conditions.
- Monitor purchase orders, supplier documentation, manufacturing progress, inspections, and delivery dates.
- Identify procurement risks, delays, cost impacts, and supply-chain constraints.
- Maintain procurement trackers, vendor records, purchase-order files, and reporting dashboards.
- Support supplier prequalification, performance evaluations, and relationship management.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with project procedures, client requirements, budgets, schedules, and applicable policies.
- Assist with expediting, logistics, change orders, invoice reviews, and purchase-order closeout.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Techne PMC procurement processes, tools, templates, and procedures.
Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in supply-chain management, procurement, business administration, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience supporting procurement activities within engineering, construction, mining, energy, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
- Knowledge of purchasing processes, competitive bidding, commercial evaluations, and purchase-order administration.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with procurement, ERP, document-control, or project-management systems is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate procurement documentation.
- Bilingual English and French communication skills are an asset for the Montreal position.
Level of Experience:
- Junior Buyer: Typically 1–5 years of relevant procurement, purchasing, or supply-chain experience.
- Senior Buyer: Typically 8–15+ years of relevant experience, including responsibility for complex procurement packages, supplier negotiations, and major capital-project purchasing activities.
